Winter Engagement Session in Great Waters, Lake Oconee – Matt & Casey

Any time I get to shoot close to home makes me excited. As much as I enjoy exploring Georgia and new location, I love getting the opportunity capture the beautiful Lake Oconee surroundings. When I was asked to do Matt and Casey’s engagement session I was thrilled, not only because I love all things romantic, but because I love the lake!

Generally, before an engagement session I get a chance or two to speak with my couple over the phone or even in person, plus we get a couple months to plan locations and details. This session we had less than a week and not a single meeting before! Combine this with the normal nerves that accompany an engagement session and I think we were all a little anxious to see how it would go.

Saturday morning arrived, and as I pulled into the parking lot of the club house the thermometer read 36 degrees. And let me tell you, this southern Georgia girl thought she was gonna freeze to death! After looking around the location and then very briskly making it back into the warmth of my car Casey and Matt arrived. As soon as we started chatting any worries I had immediately melted away! Matt and Casey are some of the nicest most laid back people you will ever meet! I new very quickly that this was going to be a fantastic session, and let me tell y’all, it was “hella fire!” (sorry, inside joke LOL!)

A little bit about Matt and Casey. They met on Tinder. Matt “super liked” Casey, and for Matt, he immediately knew he had met someone amazing! Matt said, “everything about Casey made me crave more and more to be with her and spend time together”. Casey said it wasn’t necessarily love at first sight for her, but he was definitely her type physically “tall dark and handsome!”. However, after Casey met Matt’s amazing family and got to know him better, she knew he was the one for her.

Proposing wasn’t a question of whether for Matt, but when. Apparently engagement had been discussed between them and Casey had told Matt she didn’t want a typical holiday engagement, and because of this Matt knew she would not be expecting it on Christmas morning! Haha! I seriously love that part of the story! After exchanging gifts between each other on Christmas morning Matt told Casey to grab the last present behind the tree. “Once I grabbed the gift I quickly realized what it was… I immediately started bawling”, Casey said. Matt grabbed Casey by the hand and helped her stand as he got down on one knee. Casey explained, “It was so romantic and more importantly, it was just us two having this special moment together in our home”. Isn’t that the sweetest!! I was literally in my bed smiling and crying reading through Matt and Casey’s story! And guys, they are seriously the sweetest in person!

After the first 20 minutes of our time together they were basically pros! You can’t even tell in the photos that we were all freezing. No, seriously, it was in the 30s when we got started! Oh, and did I mention they brought their absolutely adorable pup to the session as well? They did, and yes, I may want a puppy now!

Go on now, look through all of the fun we had at Matt and Casey’s session! Tell me what you think in the comments below!
