For the past couple weeks I have been posting a picture here and there from our maternity session… ok, maybe more than here and there ๐ And I figured it might make things easier if I just write a blog about our session!
As y’all know, we have been in quarantine to keep our family safe, and because of this we sadly had to cancel with out photographer earlier in march who was supposed to do our maternity photos originally. I was super bummed when we had to make this call because I was SOOOOO excited to do them! I had spent countless hours researching the right dress I would wear, putting together the boys outfits, ordering extra little things here and there off amazon, like magnetic eyelashes (which is a whole other story in itself LOL) and a flower crown!
But as the tenacious photographer person that I am, I was not gonna go down without a fight! These picture were GOING. TO. HAPPEN! So I contacted one of our neighbors, who also happens to be one of our friends from church and asked her if she would be willing to come over to our house, use my camera, and let me boss her around in how to take some pictures for us. She said yes!! Whoo!
A few days later I was trying to pull everyone in my house together, including myself, and make us look like we were not in quarantine…. Our scheduled time to start our session was at 6pm that evening, and of course, we were not ready till 6:30… Luckily our sweet neighbor, Skyler, was more than ok with our schedule. Seriously, she is the sweetest!!
Well, we finally got outside. I met up with Skyler and gave her the quickest crash course in history of how to use my camera in manual mode, told her that I would set the settings to make sure the lighting was where I wanted, and told her to basically just make sure we were in focus and click the shutter button and I would do the rest. And thats when things got interesting…
I quickly realized that this was going to be a huge test of my knowledge and everything I confidently did from behind a camera! Setting my camera up and handing it over to Skyler was NOT the hard part. The hard part was getting my boys to pose correctly without being able to see how we looked! Not to mention trying to make sure my body and face were doing something attractive as well ๐There was a lot of guessing involved, but I knew what I had envisioned in my head for these photos, and so I pushed through using every bit of training I had learned over the years to blindly lead my family and Skyler in the photo shoot! Boy oh boy, let me tell you it was not easy! My son very quickly decided he was over it and ran off to play with his outdoor toys and my dear husband hates having his picture taken, but I am so glad we persevered!
That night, holding my breath, I loaded the photos onto my computer. When I was finally able to look at them I was blown away!!!! They were better than I had ever dreamt!! I was over the moon and so thankful that Skyler had come out so graciously to help make these happen!
So without further ado, I want to share them with you! These are some of the sweetest moments captured on camera of my family, and ones that I will cherish forever! The Corona Virus did not stand in the way of us having an amazing maternity session!
